EXPERIENCE OF KHMER HERITAGE (11days/12nights)

Day 1 Veun Khan - Stung Treng

Customs and Immigration police formalities at Veun Khan (Laos-Cambodia border). Welcome by your guide and departure by boat to Stung Treng (1½ hours by speed boat). Arrive in Stung Treng , transfer to Hotel. In the afternoon visit the silk weaving association. Boat ride and visit Prasat Ppreah Ko, which was built during the pre-Angkor period. Overnight in Stung Treng.
Day 2: Stung Treng Kratie (B)

Breakfast at Hotel. In the morning drive to Kratie through thick forest along the national road 7. Check into Hotel. In the afternoon visit Wat Phnom Sombok, a Buddhist temple with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside, and the famous Mekong Dolphins. Overnight in Kratie.

Day 3 : Kratie-Chlong - Kompong Cham (B)

Breakfast at local restaurant. Drive to Chhlong, a small and peaceful village on the Mekong River bank with both typical Khmer and French colonial architecture. One unique and beautiful wooden house is supported by 100 columns and dates from 19th century. Continue to Chhup rubber plantation, which was founded by the French tire maker Michelin. Then check into Hotel in Kompong Cham. Continue by vehicle to visit Wat Nokor Pagoda with its ancient temple and modern style pagoda (12thC). Afterwards visit Phnom Pros, Phnom Srei.. Accommodation at Mekong Hotel (2-star, best available).

Day 4 Kompong Cham - Kompong Thom (B)

Breakfast at Hotel. Continue to Kompong Thom, stop along the way at Skun, a town famous for its delicacy of deep-fried spiders. Afterwards visit Kohear Nokor( 11th century) and Phnom Suntonk. Arrive in Kompong Thom and check into the Stung Sen Hotel. In the afternoon visit Sombo Prei Kuk, located 35km northeast of Kompong Thom town, the ancient capital of Chenla, with its more than 100 temples dating from pre-Angkor period. Overnight in Kompong Thom.

Day 5 : Kompong Thom - Siem Reap (B)

Breakfast at Hotel. Overland to Siem Reap, visiting on the way the Naga bridge at Kompong Kdei. Check into Hotel in Siem Reap.

In the afternoon visit the most famous of all the temples, Angkor Wat. The temple complex covers 81 hectares with five towers and was built in the 12th century. It is the largest religious monument in the world. It symbolizes the five peaks of Meru's mountains; the enclosed wall represents the mountain at the edge of the world and the surrounding moat symbolizes the ocean beyond.See the sunset from Phnom Bakhen, one of two hills dominating the plain of Angkor, from where you can view the western Baray. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 6 : Siem Reap (B)

Breakfast at Hotel. Visit Banteay Srei temple (10th century), regarded as the jewel in the crown of classical Khmer art. Then continue your visit to Banteay somre, built in the third quarter of the 12th century. It consists of a central temple with four wings proceeded by a hall and accompanied by a two libraries, the southernmost of which is remarkably well preserved. Two concentric walls enclose the ensemble.

In the afternoon visit the floating village of Chong Khneas, located 10 km south of Siem Reap. Visit the village and take a traditional wooden boat for a ride on the Tonle Sap, the great lake of Cambodia and the largest in Asia. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 7 : Siem Reap (B)

Breakfast at Hotel, visit Ta Prom (one of the beautiful temples in that area), Neak Pean, a fountain built in the middle of a pool and representing the paradisiacal Himalayan mountain lake, and the temple of Preah Khan. Built the King Jayavarman VII, Preah Khan is like Ta Prohm, a place of towered enclosures and shoulder hugging corridors. Unlike Ta Prohm, however, Preah Khan is in a reasonable state of preservation and ongoing restoration efforts should maintain and even improve this situation. Visit local market (if time permits). Transfer to airport for the flight to Phnom Penh.

Day 8 : Siem Reap - Phnom Penh (B)
Breakfast at Hotel.Visit the Royal palace and Silver pagoda. The palace was built by the French in 1866. The Silver Pagoda is so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5,329 silver tiles. It houses a gold Buddha weighing 90 kilograms and adorned with 2086 diamonds. National Museum. Also called the Musee des Beaux-Art.A French archeologist and painter, Georges Groslier, designed the Khmer-style building in 1917. It contains a large collection of arts, notably sculptures representing in each of the major periods of Khmer history. Wat Phnom. Wat Phnom was built by Madam Penh in 1372 when she found a Buddha inside a Koki tree on the site. It is still an important historical side with great religious significance for Cambodians today. Afterwards visit Central or Russian Market and take a Boat Cruise along the Tonle sap and Mekong River. Ovenight in Phnom Penh.
Day 9 :Phnom Penh - Sihanoukville (B)
Breakfast at Hotel. Overland to Sihanoukville, afternoon free at leisure. Overnight in Sihanoukville.
Day 10 :Sihanoukville - Ream National Park - Sihanoukville (B)
Breakfast at Hotel. Boating in Ream National Park. Along with the mangroves forests, Ream offers many species of birds in the forest and small fishing villages. Take a short trekking on the mountain. Have lunch on the island. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 11 : Sihanoukville - Phnom Penh - Departure (B)

Breakfast at Hotel. Free time on the beach until lunch, and then depart for Phnom Penh.
